Privacy policy

What we collect

You do not need an account to use this site, and we do not ask for your name, email address or payment details. The choices you make (level of life, number of people, years) are kept in the web address of the page you are viewing, so you can share or bookmark them. We do not use them to identify you.

Third parties that see your visit

To show the pages, your browser loads some things from other companies: fonts from Google Fonts, and photographs from Unsplash. Like any website, these services receive your internet address and basic browser details when they send you the files. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do with it. The company that hosts this site may also keep standard server records, such as the pages requested and the time, for security and to keep the site running.

The blog: comments, thumbs up and reading counts

If you leave a comment on an article, we store the name you give, your comment, and, if you add one, a scrambled version of your email address (the address itself is never shown or kept in readable form). We also keep a scrambled version of your internet address and browser type, only to block spam and repeat abuse. Your first comment is read by a person before it appears. You can ask us to remove a comment or the data attached to it at any time.

The thumbs-up button and the reading counts use a scrambled visitor value that changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. We count that a page was read, how far down it was read and for how long. We do not keep your raw internet address, and we ignore search-engine robots. The comment form may use a spam check from Cloudflare (Turnstile), which receives your internet address and browser details when the form loads; its own privacy policy applies.

Cookies and measurement

We do not set cookies to track you. If we add visitor counts or similar measurement later, we will update this page and describe what is measured.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not collect enough to share any.

Your rights

Because we do not keep personal information about visitors, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold information about you, write to neil@theonepercentdoor.com and we will look into it.

Children

The site is written for adults and is not aimed at children.
